Having the AK governor run for VP ties Alaska more strongly to the union. This is bad news for everybody, because it cements the most one-foot-out-the-door state to the union in the most opportune time for getting the fuck out. That stays a federal divorce for at least two more years, depending on who's elected, which reenforces the idea of federal inevitability in the rest of the states. A sense of federal inevitability means less self-determination, because no matter what the people of any given state want, they feel resigned to remaining part of the US, because alternatives aren't being presented as an option. |source|
